About Us - A Better Way to Farm
A Better Way To Farm helps producers increase yields and grow their bottom line. We are a dedicated group that is passionate about American agriculture. We work hard for our clients, ensuring yields and profits are maximized. We care about the land. And we care about your legacy.
Our Story
Rod and Sheila Livesay both grew up on family farming operations, Rod in southeast Iowa and Sheila in northeast Missouri. Living through the 80s, they saw a lot of changes as well as a lot of things that stayed exactly the same. It just didn’t make sense. Rod kept thinking, there’s got to be a better way to farm!
In 1992, Rod saw something that caught his eye. In 1993, test plots were planted on Sheila’s parents’ farm. A systematic approach was implemented that started with advanced soil testing and continued with prescription row placement. Over the next few years, this proven system was being applied all across the Corn Belt and the consistency was impressive! Sharing the findings came easy! Soon, others wanted “A Better Way to Farm” too, and the growth has continued ever since.
Our Family
Rod and Sheila raised their 4 children on the family farm. Now, as adults, they are all passionate people who strive to encourage and help others. They love working with farm families and are connected to ag in one way or another. Their youngest daughters are very involved in the A Better Way To Farm community and work actively with clients. Daughter Karen developed and grew the social media component for A Better Way To Farm and along with her husband, Nik, raises cattle as well as helps clients improve their profitability. Daughter Kayla officially joined the ranks as soon as she turned 18, bringing with her 18 years of experience. She can be found around the farm or out on the road walking fields and sharing data.
Our Philosophy
We believe, with the right information and the right tools everyone can be successful. We connect people to that information. We help farmers find the products and tools that fit their operations. Plus we bring progressive forward-thinking-farmers together –– to share ideas that have worked well for them, and maybe even more importantly, what hasn’t.
